Finally found the time to start work on my Eridge Edge images. I have been using free machine embroidery to show the rare lichens and have begun to quilt which gives the pieces a 3 D effect. I have a couple of similar images so these will make a good pair. Pleased with the results so far and once framed, I plan to take these to my next show with the Guild at Henfield Hall in Sussex.
Hi and welcome to 2023!
Some dates for your diary if you are a lover of quality crafts and are looking for unique designer art and gifts. I am planning to take part in the Sussex Guild Henfield Hall Show and also the Michelham Priory Show too. Keep a look out here on my Blog , or on my Exhibitions page for any other dates for shows or exhibitions I may be doing. Remember you can always email to arrange a visit to my home to see any of my textile artwork or paintings, if in the Brighton area.
Wishing everyone and especially my followers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !
I acquired various sizes of punch needles and watched some youtube videos but couldn't get the hang of it until I attended an afternoon course on punch needle embroidery in the summer held by textile artist and tutor Lucy Rowan. This technique has now been added to hand embroidery and soldered and heated tyvek in the production of my lichen and moss embroidered hoops. So a big thank you to Lucy Rowan for passing on her expertise!
Look out for some new completed hoops which I will add to my website.
These new photographs were taken at Eridge Rocks and show the effects of weathering over many years. They are covered in rare lichens and moss. I am particularly fascinated by the honeycomb effect on these rocks and the variations in colour. Looking forward to creating new textile art with these for a new collaborative exhibition with another artist Danni Durai who works in water colours.
